Summary

In 1987 in the former field immediately north of the churchyard a number of coins, metal objects and pottery sherds were recovered. This included a Late Saxon pin-head, Roman coins, and undatable metal working debris.

The above finds include a Roman coin and a medieval coin found in April 1986 and initially reported to have been found in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin's Church (NHER 10779). A corrected location subsequently provided by the finder suggests that these were actually found within this field, although it appears there was some doubt of the accuracy of this revised provenance.
