Summary

Fenland fieldwalking here in 1986 recovered sherds of Late Saxon and medieval pottery. Quantities of animal bone and shell were also noted during this work.

17 March 1986. Fieldwalking, young winter cereal.
Context 1: general scatter odd medieval sherds and one Late Saxon. Site TYS BO.
Context 2: at [1]. Small scatter medieval pottery with concentration of shells but no pottery to the northeast. On low silt ridge. Not enough material for a concentration 10-15m diam. Site TYS BN.
Context 3 at: [2]. Small concentration medieval pottery, moderate; bone and shell both sparse. Set back from east edge of drove so probably part of larger site. Area 22m east-west x 20m north-south at 2.7m OD. Site TYS 44. Also one Late Saxon sherd.
