Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds from this field. Two concentrations of medieval pottery sherds, bone and shell fragments were also noted, and an Iron Age pottery sherds and Late Saxon sherd were also recovered.

3 April 1986. Fieldwalking weathered ploughsoil. East of Great Ouse, north of Holly House Farm.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. WSG BB (S1).
Context 2 at 6018 1372: concentration moderate medieval pottery, sparse shell, very sparse bone, post medieval material sparse to moderate to locally abundant. On top a round ridge which may or may not be a roddon. 60m
east to west x 38m north to south at 3m OD. Also one Iron Age sherd, two Late Saxon. WSG 5 (S2).
Context 3 at 6019 1361: concentration medieval pottery moderate, bone and shell sparse, post medieval moderate to abundant. On top of roddon like ridge. Around 70m northwest to southeast x 50m northeast to southwest at 2.9m OD. WSG 6 (S3).
