Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey in 1986 recovered two concentrations of Roman pottery, a scatter of medieval pottery and a piece of animal bone. Metal-detecting in 2020 recovered a medieval/post-medieval coin.

8 May 1986. Fieldwalking young roses well spread out but some rotting vegetation between. Fendyke Croft.
Context 1 general scatter stray scraps medieval pot particularly just to southwest of Banyer Hall, and odd Roman frag. EMN AQ.
Context 2 at 4948 0805. Concentration Roman pottery sparse, one fragment bone. Some post medieval material around but not much, south of roddon, 40m north to south x 30m east to west at 2.1m OD. EMN 3.
Context 3 at 4944 0810. Concentration Roman pottery moderate. No bone or shell and only occasional fragment of post medieval rubbish, south of roddon. 46m north to south x 42m east to west at 2.1-2.4m OD. EMN 4.
