Summary

An early 19th century cottage, probably on the site of an earlier building. The cottage and nearby cart shed contain interesting examples of reused medieval stonework.

In area formerly known at Tolhouse Green, in the centre of the Norman defended town, where documentary research has shown that there was a house on this site in the 17th century.
Present house is probably of about 1800 with a later upper floor, but with some quoins of reused medieval stonework, and adjacent shed and wall contain doorways formed by Norman and later architectural fragments.
