Full Description
July 1951. Listed, Grade II.
Dated 1772 in glebe terrier, and later.
Brick and black pantiles. T-plan with principal block flanked by pavilions to south; added east pile about 1800. 2 storeys. South facade 5 bays, sash windows below skewback arches, sills of ground floor at ground level. Slightly advanced and pedimented central bay. Renewed moulded timber cornices. Single storeyed pavilion to each side with single window opening (sash on west, plastic imitation on east). Steep pitched hipped roofs. End stacks to main block. West facade 4 bays sash windows in painted architraves; cornices and pulvinated friezes on ground floor. Modillion eaves cornice. Angle between main facade and west block filled with 20th century porch extension reusing late 18th century doorcase; flat porch on 20th century Ionic columns. East pile of 5 bays, central door, 20th century conservatory to north. Interior has fine swept staircase with shaped tread ends and mahogany handrail, matching 20th century imitation balusters on other side at base due to provision of porch.
Information from (S1).
E. Rose, (NAU) 27 October 1986.
Notice of dismissal of appeal against order for reinstatement of sash windows replaced by alumimium windows without permission, in file.
March 2003.
House not inspected in detail, but seen when visiting adjacent site. Combination of bricks with horizontal skintlings in north west wing and diagonal skintlings in crosswing fits the listing date of 1722 better than the date of 1701 claimed by the owners. There is a former stable block to the north and a ruined summerhouse with colonnade to the south east.
E. Rose (NLA), 18 March 2003.
October 2008.
Proposed addition of leisure area and play room extension.
See (S2) for further information
