Summary

A medieval lead pilgrim badge of St Andrew. The exact circumstances of its discovery are unknown. This example is the first badge of St Andrew to be found outside Scotland and London.

Medieval lead pilgrim badge of St Andrew, (S1).
Submitted to Museum of London who reports: First badge of St Andrew found outside Perth and London. London examples from 13th to 14th century contexts. Probably souvenirs from St Andrews in Scotland, Royal Museum of Scotland has mould for making these. (April 1987).
