Summary

This is the site of a medieval and post medieval settlement recorded in documentary sources. A survey of 1565 shows areas called Rattongate and Haliards, both with streets and houses. None of the houses survive, while the routes of some of streets survive as trackways or field boundaries. Artefacts have been recovered from the areas. They include Neolithic flint artefacts, sherds of Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery and pieces of medieval and post medieval metalwork.
