Summary

Fieldwalking in 1987 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds and two Late Saxon sherds from this field. A concentration of medieval pottery sherds and shell fragments was also noted adjacent to the road, along with some post medieval material.

17 March 1987. Fenland fieldwalking, well weathered soil. North of road east of Bank Farm.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds and two Late Saxon. WMV CA (S1).
Context 2 at 5936 1564: concentration of medieval pot moderate and shell moderate adjacent to road. Some post medieval material. Large fragments of pottery and shells in clusters suggest archaeological layers being actively ploughed. 28m northwest to southeast x 20m northeast to southwestat 2.4m OD. WMV 27 (S2).
