Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Project identified two small concentration of prehistoric worked flint in this field, one of which included pieces of possible Mesolithic/Early Neolithic date. Two sherds of late prehistoric pottery (one possibly Iron Age) were also recovered.

26 March 1987. Fenland Project fieldwalking.
Weathered ploughsoil. Two sites identified:

Site MRM AS (General scatter; Context 1).
Small assemblage of worked flints comprising 1 core trimming flake, 2 flakes and 8 blades. Identified by F. Healy (NAU) as possible Mesolithic or Early Neolithic.

Site MRM AR (TF 7174 1111; Context 2).
Small concentration (about 20m in diameter) of worked flints and single sherds of undatable prehistoric and ?Iron Age pottery. Worked flints not closely datable.
