Full Description
May 1987. Metal detecting find in ploughed field.
Badly worn and corroded Roman Dupondius, probably Domitian, AD 69-96. Context 1 at grid reference.
Also reports of medieval pottery, not yet seen.

One sherd Roman greyware; illegible follis (late 3rd-early 4th century); George I coin weight stamped with dagger (City of London), coffee pot and crowned G.
Also two medieval sherds (one glazed), Roman coin (unidentifiable 1st-2nd century).

In 1999 it was stated by W. Milligan (NCM) that the 1987 finds from site NHER 8311 come from this site; but in 1997 it had been stated that they came from site NHER 13074. See NHER 8311 for details.

A. Rogerson (NLA) identified: one post medieval stoneware body sherd (one 18th century slip and glaze).
V. Fryer (NCM) identified: 1) Possible ?late medieval Ae vessel Fragment, very abraded. 2) Crudely cast hemispherical lead spindle whorl. Regular central perforations. Indistinct cast pattern on upper surface. 3) 2 other non-recorded metal finds.
