Summary

Wood Farm is an early 17th century timber-framed building with an 18th century brick façade. The house has a large central ridge chimney stack has been adapted from a 17th century gable stack, with triple octagonal flues and star tops. The north gable wall is of flint and reused ashlar stone, and bears the dates 1623 and 1632.

Says that it is the wall that is dated, not the stack. There are large cellars. The tunnel has an entrance outside the building (drain or old kiln?). [1]

Listed Grade II in 1995. Dated as early 17th century with 18th century additions. 17th century timber frame running north-to-south. Brick facade added early 18th century. South front brick in English and Flemish bond. One storey and dormer attic. Large central ridge stack adapted from 17th century gable stack of rear wing, with triple octagonal flues and star tops. Irregular 19th century fenestration adapted from 18th century. Mid 18th century brick bay of two storeys added to north. North gable of flint and reused ashlar, bears dates 1623 and 1632. Interior of 17th century range has exposed timber studs; ground floor bridging beam with tongue stops; boxed beam in east extension with wave and reed mouldings. Front range has bridging beam with sunk quadrant mouldings and roll moulding on underside.
First floor rear wing has early 18th century chimneypiece. Rear wing roof has two tiers butt purlins, upper crucks with spurs to wallplate.
