Summary

An ice house formerly in the grounds of Crimplesham Hall (NHER2457). It probably dates from the late 18th century, and was partly rebuilt in the 19th century, possibly by the same man who built the Hall and its folly (NHER2458).

Ice house. Probably late 18th century, partly rebuilt 19th century.
Unusual surrounding passage with roof made of pipes.
Report in file by Mrs E. M. James June 1987.

For the use of drainpipes as vaulting see also the Hall (2457) and folly (2458). This suggests Waterhouse designed the ice house also.

As of 1992 the structure is was warping and the top of the dome had fallen in.
