Summary

Systematic fieldwalking here recovered prehistoric worked flints and pottery dating from the late prehistoric to the Iron Age. The worked flints were probably predominantly Neolithic, although a small number were potentially Mesolithic.

Site BB 384.
Natural rise in otherwise low lying partly peaty field, sandy gravelly soil. Good conditions, winter cereal.
6 prehistoric 'gritty' pottery sherds.
3 ?Bronze Age grog-tempered pottery sherds.
4 ?Iron Age dark sand pottery sherds.; Undated scraps.
110 worked flints. These were briefly examined by J. J. Wymer (NAU) who felt that they were predominantly Neolithic. It is however noted in (S1) that 10 small blades and a "core tablet" are potentially Mesolithic.
Undatable scraps of pottery.
Pottery identified A. Rogerson (NAU).
