Full Description
19 October 1987. Field with clay pit west of Petticoat Drove, southwest sector of island. Fenland fieldwalking, weathered soil, young winter cereal. Context 1, general scatter odd medieval sherds, one Ipswich ware, odd flints. WGY BN.
Context 2 at 6709 1170 concentration sparse iron slag and some Roman Nene Valley sherds although not a great many. In fairly limited area south of old claypit on stony loam soil 53m northeast to southwest by 40m northwest to southeast maximum. WGY 19 at 23 to 26 feet OD. NCM.
