Full Description
23 February 1988. Fenland fieldwalking. Field north of Modney Hall.
Good weathered soil, young cereal.
Context 1. HLG BU.
A couple of flints.
Context 2 at 6110 9636. HLG 15.
On level part of island,sandy mineral soil. 36m east to west x 29m north to south at 4.3m OD.
Concentration of pot boilers, sparse but no flint.
Context 3 at 6103 9656. HLG 16.
On loam soil, formerly covered by peat. 28m northeast to southwest x 23m northwest to southeast at 3.4m OD.
Concentration of pot boilers, sparse but no flint.

Earthworks in a field of permanent pasture, centred at TL 6083 9633, comprise the truncated remains of steadings and a field system with a 'trackway' between them. The farmer states that masonry foundations lie near the surface over a large part of this field, but no structure outline is visible. Now all destroyed.
