Summary

Metal-detecting between 1980 and 2024 recovered an undated blue glass bead; Upper Palaeolithic, Early Neolithic, Neolithic and Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman box flue tile fragment; undatable copper alloy casting waste; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens; and a range of other, Late Iron Age/Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Iron Age/Roman ferrule or mount and mount in the shape of an ox or bull's head; Roman brooches, a snake-head bracelet, key handle, handle from folding razor, mount, harness mount, terret, probable patera handle and copper alloy pin; a Roman to post-medieval lead unidentified sub-pyramidal object; Early Saxon brooch fragments and a buckle; a Middle/Late Saxon strap end; Late Saxon disc brooches and a bridle cheek-piece fragment; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval thimbles, a horse-harness stud, mount, hooked stud from spur leather, purse hanger or arched pendant mount and lead standing weight; medieval/post-medieval purse bar fragments, a probable swivel loop, copper alloy vessel repair and lead weights and post-medieval crotal bells, a possible sword-belt mount, harness mount, binding from rod or staff, mount, end-cap from scale-tang knife, book clasp, rumbler bell, lead weights, lead cloth seal and lead bale seal.
