Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1979 show a series of rectangular enclosures at this location. Unfortunately no date or function could be ascribed to these features. Fieldwalking and metal detecting here in 1988 and 1994 recovered a variety of metal objects and pottery sherds. Finds included two medieval strap ends, a post medieval thimble with punched dot decoration, sherds of medieval Grimston Ware and post medieval stoneware along with a large fragment of a lava quern.

A series of undated possible enclosure ditches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-S3) on land to the north of South Farm, Snetterton. The site is centred on TL 9875 8963. It consists of a number of linear ditches which may in fact represent post medieval drainage, although it is also possible that the earthworks are of medieval to post medieval date and may represent enclosures or possible field boundaries.
E. Bales (NMP), 11 September 2012.
