Thetford's small civil airport was situated to the north of the town, between the Croxton and Mundford Roads. Its first known use was in 1932. In 1939 it was taken over as part of an army camp.

The existence of the airfield and the army camp mentioned above could not be confirmed at this location from the available aerial photographs, rather an extensive army camp was recorded approximately 375m to the south (NHER 54525).
