Full Description
July 1972. Listed Grade II.
1988. Building Survey.
Examined by Wymondham buildings group.
Building with external facade part mock-Tudor and part Georgian style. Latter due to extensive alterations in 1812. Interior has remains of timber frame - boxed ground floor spine beam. Stopped beams in 17th century style across east wall stack and across centre and west end, with expanded wallposts. Spiral stair to attic. Extensive cellar. Possibility the building originally continued further west. Later outbuildings.

1994 Listing Description (S1) adds that façade is of 1778 behind later mock timbering. Rear cross wing, now known as The Cottage, Brewery Lane, has tongue stopped bridging beam.
In addition to Wymondham society report, South Norfolk Council note in 2001; principal rafters all have mouldings, showing the attic lath and plaster partitions were of later date. These partitions and a 19th century attic fireplace removed without permission; enforcement order to be levied in respect of fireplace.

"House, the front now offices, rear wing domestic. 17th-century timber-frame with whitewashed brick skin. Pantile roofs. Two storeys. Façade reconstructed 1778 and later altered. Glazed panelled door right of centre in plain timber doorcase. 2 late C19 horned sashes either side, each with one glazing bar. First floor formerly jettied, now rendered and whitewashed and fitted with false timber studs...Gabled roof. Partial-external gable-end stack to east. Large two-storeyed cross wing to rear under separate address of The Cottage, Brewery Lane. Timber-framed with whitewashed brick skin and gabled roof. West side with a panelled door under a hood and two three-light late 18th-century casements...
INTERIOR. Chamfered bridging beam to rear wing with tongue stops. Roof and front wing not inspected."
