Summary

In 1988 part of a Neolithic polished flint axehead was found in this field. Subsequent fieldwalking in 1998 and metal-detecting between 2009 and 2023 recovered Mesolithic and undatable (but potentially Late Neolithic) prehistoric worked flints; potentially Roman, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; undatable iron slag; medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval jettons and a number of other, Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Saxon stirrup-strap terminal; a medieval strap end and horse-harness pendant and a post-medieval button.
