Summary

Between 1955 and 1988 two Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axeheads and a palstave were recovered at this location. Metal-detecting in 2013 identified a Late Bronze Age hoard comprising 17 objects/object fragments. It is likely that the earlier discoveries were originally part of this dispersed hoard.

Socketed copper alloy axehead, ploughed up.

5 July 1969. Stray Find.
A copper alloy palstave was found a few yards to the southeast of the axehead recovered in 1955.

Socketed axe, with vertical ribs, length 10.8cm (S3).
Location very approximate, 'believed to be from where the other two axes came (palstave and another socketed axe)'.

September 2013. Metal-detecting. [1].
Late Bronze Age hoard comprising 17 objects or fragments of objects.
Finds in ploughsoil and all from an area measuring approximately "8 by 10 paces". It is highly likely that the socketed axeheads and palstave previously found in this area were originally part of this hoard.
