Summary

Fieldwalking here in the early 1980s recovered a small assemblage of Roman pottery sherds, along with two medieval pottery sherds. Subsequent metal-detecting between 2005 and 2024 recovered Roman and medieval pottery sherds; a Roman tile fragment; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and a range of other, Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include Roman brooches and a copper alloy furniture stud; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories (including a medieval/post-medieval silver finger ring); a medieval rotary casket key, purse hanger or pendent mount for suspension of sword or purse and lead weights; a medieval/post-medieval mount and copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval sword-belt mount, crotal bell and harness mount.
