Summary

Metal detecting in 1988, 2001 and 2004 recovered a selection of metal brooches. These brooches were of the disc type and both Roman and Saxon enamelled examples were retrieved. A post medieval dress fittting was also recorded from this location.

Roman enamelled disc brooch. 2nd century.
Enamelled Early Saxon? or Middle Saxon? disc. Slightly convex with four pairs of spirals around central circle, (S1).
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM) and D. Gurney (NAU).

Post medieval Ae 'white metal' blunt hooked clothing fastener eyelet, elaborate openwork with three attachment holes. 26 x 35mm. 16th - 17th century.
