Summary

A 16th-century timber framed house which was converted into a Georgian hall in the 18th century. Although initial listed as simply an 18th-century country house it was subsequently recognised that this brick mansion encloses a much older timber-framed house of probable 16th- or 17th-century date. This was confirmed by tree-ring analysis undertaken in 2013, which indicated that timbers in the main central range of the house had been cut from trees felled between 1510 and 1535.
