Summary

An early 17th century brick house with 20th century alterations. An important early 18th century wall painting was discovered in a bedroom in 1989, depicting a repeating lantern pattern and angels.

Marked on (S1) as Old Manor House.
(S2) describes as early 17th century, much altered 20th century.
Brick, thatched roof with later pantiled wing.
Two storeys and attic, L-plan plus later wing.
South elevation has corner pilasters, three windows and off centre door.
Parapet gables with massive stack at west gable and small off centre axial stack.
Brickwork of east wall may replace timber frame between gable returns.
North gable with platband and moulded eaves, internal stack.
18th century wall painting exposed on bedroom wall in 1989, see (S3).The painting was a frieze with a lantern motif, and putti, or angels.
