Summary

Metal detecting in 1989 recovered two fittings from a cart, recovered from an area very close to each other. They appear to date to the Roman period, although they are in an Iron Age style.

1989. Found with metal detector.
Two decorative fittings possibly from a cart. Found very close together.
Cast bronze in form of birds' neck and head (duck?) above moulded collar, above short flaring hollow socket; transverse internal bar within socket ends of bar visible on exterior as differentially patinated metal. Iron corrosion on inner edge of socket of example in better condition.
Iron Age style, but could be early Roman in date.
