Summary

Fieldwalking at this site in around 2003 identified a substantial concentration of what was believed to be Iron Age pottery, with over 350 sherds recovered. It now appears that this area saw signficant activity during the Iron Age as further scatters of Iron Age pottery have been identified in the fields to the west and south (NHER 25265, NHER 38055 and NHER 61643) and also in Wayland Wood to the north (NHER 36300). A number of prehistoric worked flints and potentially prehistoric burnt flints were also recovered. Earlier metal-detecting in this field had also recovered a Roman brooch fragment.
