May 1989. Metal detecting and fieldwalking.
Concentration of Roman finds.
Eight Roman coins- see list (identified by D. Gurney), one Roman colour-coat, one Calcite-gritted, three oxidised, one medieval Glazed Grimston. [1]

Trefoil strap union with central boss, ?Late Saxon. Internal diameter of each circle 10mm, width of whole 33mm.
Medieval ?strap end. Scalloped edge, cross-hatching with punched dots with each lozenge. Spade-shaped end. Length 59mm.

Ring, rounded section hoop, chain. ?Roman.
Part of late Roman strap ends; narrow end missing, broad end damaged, parts of two rivet holes. On one face multiple ring-and-dots. On other 'chip-carved' ?animal motif with openwork, within cross-hatched border.

Coins identified by J. Davies (NCM) and other objects by A. Rogerson (NLA). See details in file. The Roman cosmetic mortar was also examined by R. Jackson (British Museum) and is described and illustrated in (S3). It was acquired by the British Museum in 1999 (1999,0802.84).
