Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking in 1989 and 2013 recovered Iron Age, Early to Middle Saxon and medieval pottery fragments; a post-medieval clay tobacco pipe fragment; Roman and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and Late Bronze Age, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Bronze Age socketed ?gouge; an Early Saxon cruciform brooch fragment; a Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval horse harness pendant and possible writing lead; a medieval/post-medieval cylindrical padlock, lead weight, steelyard weight and copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval crotal bell and powder flask cap.

The finder, [4], notes that there is an above average amount of clay tobacco pipe stem fragments in the ploughsoil of this field. None of the clay tobacco pipe stem was retained.
