Summary

An anti-tank barrier was constructed on High Bridge during World War II, likely about 1940. Two concrete sockets survive on either side of the roadway on both sides of the bridge. These would have supported the ends of the barrier and are a rare survival. Records indicate that there were also two spigot mortars located at the bridge, but no remains have been identified during survey.
