Summary

In 1989 the cropmark of a building was identified as a possible Roman villa. The subsequent discovery of post medieval building material suggested that the building was more likely to be associated with the Holkham Estate. This field was known as 'Skoyles' Field' on 19th century estate maps and a 19th century estate survey mentions 'Skoyles' Barn', which was built in the early 19th century and demolished by the 1850s.
