Summary

Park Farm is a timber-framed house of interesting layout. It is essentially 17th century in date, although it has a screen passage plan which gives the impression of a late medieval house. The house underwent major alterations around 1800, and has two barns, one dating to the 17th century, one to around 1800.

Timber framed house of great interest. All details suggest 17th century date yet retains screen passage plan. Stair turret of high quality. Is this an unusual case or is an earlier building fossilized inside?

E. Rose (NLA), 22 November 1990.

January 1988. Field Observation.
Further investigation during restoration works confirmed that this building is all of one basic period, mid 17th century, despite the plan. However the framing of the stack is unusual.
See further unpublished report (S3) and photographs (S4) for further details.
E. Rose (NLA), 21 January 1998.
