Map

Windmill (OS) Marked on first edition 1in OS 1836.
(S1) indicates that this vanished long before 1900, as he quotes a Southery miller as saying in 1900 that his grandfather had known the mill on the mound by the churchyard.
E. Rose (NAU).

No traces there now - information from S. Ashley (NAU) 1980.

Postcard from S. Ashley (NAU), shows this windmill as a postmill still intact. Date of postcard is around 1900 - photograph taken when? However S. Ashley says his grandfather remembers the mill taken down in 1915!
This is correct - the mill ceased working 1922. It was an open trestle post mill. (S1) is probably thinking of site NHER 15648.

Postcard in file under NHER 2590.

The windmill is also shown at this location on Bryant's 1826 county map (S2), 1838 Southery tithe map (S3) and the first edition six inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (S4). This appears to be a different windmill to that shown further to the southwest on Faden's 1797 map (NHER 15648). The site is now built over and no trace of the mill is visible.
