Summary

Neolithic axeheads, and an Early Bronze Age flat axehead made of copper alloy have been found at this site, and medieval pottery has been found by fieldwalking.

Objects recovered from surface of field when ploughed for "first time in a very long time".
From Context 1:
1 Neolithic stone axehead. Petrology N80 group VI (LGS enq.2242).
From Context 2:
1 Early Bronze Age decorated copper alloy flat axe. Irish type. See rubbings (S1) and accompanying outline sketches (S2).

Six flint axes found around this spot.

Fieldwalking by A. Rogerson (NAU) produced only 2 medieval unglazed sherds in very poor condition.

Better conditions, but no obvious concentrations; spill from nearby medieval sites, 1 Early medieval jar rim; 1 medieval unglazed base, 5 sherds; 4 glazed Grimston, Context 4.
