This building and its undercroft are amongst those listed in thesis (S3), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. No 65 is described as a two-storeyed, 17th-century building with flint rubble walls. There is a chimney stack on each gable and a central through passage that contains the stairs to the first floor. The 15th-century brick-built undercroft is partly beneath this building and extends out in three directions. The longest arm is positioned at right-angles to the street and extends beneath the pavement.

December 2002-January 2003. Watching Brief.
On structural remedial work to remove a concrete 'plug' within the roof of the medieval undercroft.
Contexts 99-107 used.
The concrete plug had been a repair to the undercroft which had been damaged by water leaking from a pipe directly above the undercroft. In the actual undercroft itself a sherd of post medieval pottery and fragment of ornate medieval brick were found amongst the general debris. Both these items showed fire damage and the former presence of a layer of charcoal on the lower part of the wall coverings suggest a fire occurred here sometime in the past.
See report (S5) for full details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S6).
