No 76 Pottergate.

1970s or 1980s. Building Survey.
Briefly examined as part of Norwich Survey.
Two-storey red brick block with basement contrived in sloping site. East façade with Dutch gable and blue diaper brick patterns appears to be 19th-century addition. Main façade along street with mixture of fluish and concealed frame sashes.
Information from record form (S1).
P. Watkins (HES), 30 November 2017.

This building is amongst those noted in thesis (S2), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is recorded that its early 19th-century shell actually contains the ceiling beams and roof of a late 17th-century building with a central chimney stack. Every truss of the roof has two collar, an interesting feature normally associated with much wider buildings such as barns.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 30 November 2017.
