Summary

This long building dates to the 16th century building although it has earlier medieval wall and window. One tie beam with an arched brace and a small section of timber ceiling were found built into the present structure. It is possible that this building is an amalgamation of two properties but the rear extensions are undatable.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former use unknown now public house. 17th century heightened in the 18th century with 20th century alterations. Rendered. Pantile roof. Three storeys, two storeys plus attic to right-side. Jettied at first floor. Six first floor windows. 20th century pub front with off-centre door, casement windows and long fascia."

Long, two storeyed plus attic, 16th century building. See report on excavations below this building, given county number 868 by W. Milligan (NCM), which includes a note on a medieval wall and window. One tie beam with arched brace and small section of timber ceiling found built into the present structure, also part of an 18th century newspaper survived sealed behind a ceiling. Report filed under 868. Fragments of clasped purlin roof implying dormer originally 16th century.
