Summary

No 3 is a mid 19th century shop of rendered brickwork with a pantile roof. The land behind this building is part of the earliest area of Saxon occupation in Norwich, and test pits there in 1991 have revealed building materials, mortar, oyster shells and charcoal deposits.

Archaeological deposits observed from 0.70 below ground surface.
Wet deposits at 2.5m below floor level behind No 15 Magdalen Street.
Test Pit 3: next to west wall of existing structure, building destruction/construction material, mortar, oyster shell and charcoal fleck.

Formerly listed with Nos 1 and 3A.
Shop. Mid 19th century. Rendered brickwork. Pantile roof. Three storeys. Three bays. 20th century glazed shopfront. Sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals. Modillion cornice."
