Summary

Archaeological observations were carried out in Timberhill in 1993 during gas pipe trenching. Findings tended to confirm that Timberhill is of Late Saxon origin but suggest the road line may have changed. Various fills, possibly of cellars, were found and at one point a wall seems to block the course of the road. The latest surface is formed of oak setts.
