Full Description
Post medieval defensive structure, site of.
Demolished 1994. Circular brick structure, remains formerly over 2m high and about 1.7m diameter. Built of header bond brickwork, large doorway (altered) in one side with iron lintel, iron square loopholes around circumference at 2m. Situated just north of Carrow Bridge, stood in football ground car park. Source queries the exact use of the structure as it is not a conventional type of 'pillbox'. [1] A detailed drawing of the structure was made by E. Rose (NAU), in 1975 and given to the old Norwich SMR, but was apparently mislaid.

Compiled by E. Rose (NLA), 7 March 1994.
Source identifies this as a firewatchers' observation tower.
See letter (S3) in file.
Compiled by D. Gurney (NLA) 22 March 1994.
