Summary

This land was formerly the Heigham Playing Fields before becoming the first purpose built park in Norwich in 1921-4. The former central fountain and pool are now gone and the former circular rose garden is now a children's play area. A bowling green exists to the west with tennis courts to the northwest and southwest. There are some slight indications of World War Two military activity visible on 1940s aerial photographs but this is uncertain.

There are some slight traces of World War Two military and/or civil defence activity and structures visible on wartime aerial photographs (S7)-(S9) of Heigham Park (NHER 26416, which is centred at TG 2128 0810). However, it is difficult to be certain as to what precisely is visible and what its origin might have been, and as a consequence it has not been mapped by the NMP.
