Full Description
May 1998. Trial Trench.
Evaluation in advance of development.
Layer containing one Roman and one medieval sherd cut by pit and two ditches. The pit produced no cultural material and it was suggested that it may be a naturally formed feature. The ditches produced animal bone, worked flint and single sherds of prehistoric and medieval pottery but were probably post-medieval. The presence of probable cultivation layers suggest the site was always open ground since Roman period.
