Summary

Metal detecting at this site has recovered a wide range of metal objects including a cut penny of a Plantagenet king minted between 1180 and 1247 and a Middle to Late Saxon wedge-shaped strap-end. Fieldwalking on the same site produced Middle and Late Saxon and medieval pottery.

East of church, surface finds medieval sherds (wrongly noted as 'MISC sherds' on NCM map).

March 1989. Area extended to south-west over field known as camping ground from ancient type of football.
Fieldwalking finds, both from contexts 1 and 2 undifferentiated.
One Ipswich pimply base
One Ipswich sandy base
One medieval unglazed bowl rim.

April 1989.
Further finds of one pimply Ipswich, one late Thetford-type sherd, one medieval unglazed; one unidentified.
No significant metal finds.
Poor conditions.
