Summary

A large collection of burnt flint and sooty material has been recovered from this prehistoric burnt mound site around the pond that is the source of River Wissey.

1991. Around pond, source of River Wissey called Shipdham by finders.
Very large spread of potboilers, traces of burning. Samples seen by E. Rose (NLA). Genuine potboilers, and heavily covered in sooty material. Field called a Roman camp by owner, reason unknown.
