Summary

In 1990 a 15th century equal-armed cross pendant was found in the garden here while digging footings for a garage. The pendant was made from silver alloy and the discoidal centre was inscribed with AGLA on one face, a charm to ward off the fever.

1990. Found in garden while digging footings for garage.
Silver alloy equal armed cross pendant with discoidal centre inscribed AGLA on one face, with cast low relief cross and crosslets on the other. Bosses at the end of each arm. Probably 15th century.
The letters AGLA are the Latin initials for the Hebrew 'Thou art mighty for ever, O Lord' used in the Middle Ages as a charm against fever.
