Summary

Earthworks of probable ridge and furrow of post medieval date have been identified during site visits and are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The ridges are not visible on more recent aerial photographs from 2022 or on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017, and have presumably been levelled.

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The probable ridge and furrow of post medieval date described above is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (S1). The ridges were not identified on more recent aerial photographs from 2022 (S2) or on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 (S3), and have presumably been levelled. Their narrowness and straightness suggest that they are of post medieval date. The Monument Polygon defining the extent of the site has been amended to better reflect the extent of the earthworks as visible on the aerial photographs.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 8 March 2024.
