The medieval moated site of Drayton Hall, described above, is visible as cropmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-S2) and visualised lidar data (S3). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017), it is likely that any earthworks visible on the visualisations still survive. The three-sided ditched enclosure of the moat more or less correlates with its depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map (S4). Cropmarks and earthworks recorded in the surrounding area (NHER 68208 and 68207) may include elements contemporary with the moated site.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 21 March 2024.
