Summary

This was the site of a common edge settlement during the medieval period, which is mentioned in late 15th century documents. Field walking recovered pottery dating from the medieval and post medieval periods.

Finds from spoil from recent ditch between G334 and 335 and from new north to south ditch at east end (G334).
Hint of medieval concentration at east end or near.
Medieval pottery.

6 October 1996. Extended to include area north of perimeter track of World War Two airfield.
Medieval sherds, only 1 post medieval (late); concentration on former common edge indicating settlement site at TF 9156 1456 in G334.10.

Further area walked G331 blank except for 1 post medieval sherd (context 4)
G334 (contexts 14 to 19) further medieval sherds and 1 late medieval or early post medieval sherd.
