Summary

In 1992 a Late Bronze Age sword was found here. It was identified as a Hallstatt derivative of Cowen's Thames type and dated to the 7th century BC. An unlooped palstave of the Shield pattern type with wood between the flanges was also recovered at the same time. It is possible that river dredgings have been spread over site which may explain the curious encrustations on both these artefacts and the find from NHER 28984.
